Project Bruno

Carved hood over a stainless cooktop with a tiled backsplash inlay

A cream traditional kitchen where the range wall is the whole design: a carved hood surround built up to the ceiling, a tiled backsplash inlay set behind the stainless cooktop, and cabinetry detailed to match either side.

The island is granite on carved corbels with a bronze tap — heavier and more ornamented than the perimeter, which is deliberate, because in a room this size the island is what you see first from the doorway. Wall ovens sit in the tall run, and glass-front cabinetry with display shelving breaks up what would otherwise be an unbroken wall of doors.

A second view shows the same room reading much darker under a linear chandelier at night. Traditional cream cabinetry photographs very differently depending on the light it is under, which is the single best argument for choosing a finish in a showroom rather than from a screen.

Six photographs follow.
