Fullerton Project

A Fullerton kitchen remodel, photographed in daylight and again at night, which is the pair of views most useful when you are choosing between a light and a dark scheme.

The room carries cream cabinetry with a carved overmantel shelf above the run — an architectural detail rather than a cabinet one, and the thing that stops the wall reading as a row of boxes. In the evening frames the same space is much darker: a linear chandelier over the island, a stainless refrigerator against the tall run, and the cabinetry reading closer to buff than cream.

That difference is not a photography artefact. Cream and glazed finishes shift substantially between north light, afternoon sun and warm artificial light, and a finish chosen from a single photograph is a finish chosen once, under one condition. It is the reason the samples live in a showroom you can walk into.
